Boat Rush

Turn the throttle wide open, and get ready to have one of the most wild marine chases of your life! Boat Rush is an action-packed arcade-style chase game where you are driving a high-speed speed boat at top speed, racing through a congested bay while under constant harassment by the Coast Guard. The only way to survive this frantic, non-stop survival chase is to be extremely quick, clever, and utilize the right weapons to evade the Coast Guard.

What Makes Boat Rush So Exhilarating

Boat Rush has that perfect "chase-movie" energy. You are the outlaw speedboat driver; the Coast Guard is after you. Your only safe place is the bay (and possibly jail). Each time you manage to avoid getting caught is a success, and each time you narrowly miss a collision causes your heart to beat faster.

A top down view allows you to see the Coast Guard boats closing in on you from all sides. As they begin to converge on your location, you may find yourself unable to escape, forced to make increasingly aggressive moves. The pressure never relents. If you can survive long enough, the water is chaotic with Coast Guard patrol boats in every direction, obstacles blocking your path, and the only thing standing in your way is your quickness of thought and quickness of reaction.

Speed Boat Chase Through the Bay

While the endless runner formula is perfected by the game, it is the chase component that makes it feel unique from traditional survival games. You aren't simply running from obstacles, you are being actively chased by adversaries who adjust their route based on your actions and attempt to trap you.

Chase Begins

Your objective is simple: continue driving your boat as long as you can, earning the highest score possible while staying free of the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is fast, abundant, and determined to put a stop to your run, and constantly closing in on you from all directions. The top-down arcade style offers incredible control and strategy, requiring you to expertly maneuver your boat through the crowded waterways while evading the Coast Guard patrol boats that continually attempt to encircle you. The longer you remain uncaught, the more chaotic the chase will become. What was once a single Coast Guard boat, followed by another and then another, rapidly escalates into a full-scale Coast Guard fleet. Not only do Coast Guard boats pursue you without hesitation, they also work together to surround you, limiting your ability to escape from the surrounding area.

You will weave through small island gaps, use narrow channels to escape from your pursuers, and make hairpin turns at the last second to cause pursuing boats to crash into nearby obstacles.

Smart Tactical Moves and Collectibles

Surviving the bay is not simply a matter of how fast you can go. There is a great deal of smart tactical play involved. While you are constantly dodging your pursuers, you need to be focused on collecting two essential types of collectible items.

Stars: Collect as many stars as you can. Stars are the primary method of scoring points in the game and demonstrate your bravery and agility in avoiding capture. Stars are placed throughout the bay and can be found in areas that require you to take risks to reach them. When you see a cluster of stars in a small passageway between two large bodies of land, the temptation to take the risk to earn a higher score is very strong. However, if you attempt to collect them and fail to make it back to safety, you could be trapped. Alternatively, you can ignore the high-scoring stars and earn fewer points.

Water Mines: Strategically drop water mines behind you to immediately create hazards for your pursuers, forcing Coast Guard boats to divert or sustain damage. Water mines can eliminate several pursuers at once when dropped in the correct location or completely block a narrow passage, giving you critical seconds to escape.

Mines are your emergency button and your tactical weapon. They should be used to defend yourself, whether you decide to use them defensively when a boat is approaching, or if you anticipate they will pass through certain locations (choke points) that you know pursuers will travel through. The exploding effect of a Coast Guard boat hitting one of your mines is always very satisfying.

Anchors: Anchors provide a short-term speed increase which will give you enough time to put some space between yourself and your pursuer(s). In the event of having multiple boats approaching and no apparent way out, an anchor boost could allow you to squeeze through a gap that would have been impossible to make otherwise, providing you with some badly needed "breathing room".

Understanding when to deploy a Water Mine (to impede/stop an aggressive pursuer or to protect a narrow location), is key to developing the ability to play Boat Rush effectively. Resource management plays a large role in success of the game, just like driving skills.

If you deploy mines too early, you will exhaust all of your mines and you will be unable to utilize them when you really need to. On the other hand, if you hoard your mines for too long, you may be caught before you are able to utilize them.

How to Play Boat Rush

Desktop: Use either the arrow keys or WASD keys to control steering. Pressing the space bar will deploy water mines. The controls are very responsive and precise allowing for very tight turns and narrow escapes.

Mobile: Using touch controls, you will be able to steer using a simple left or right tap on the screen. Separate buttons for deploying mines and for using boosts will keep things easy to access without cluttering the screen.

Your objective: To survive as long as possible without being captured. Collecting stars will add to your total score. Acquire power-ups and use them strategically. Outrun the entire Coast Guard Fleet.

The beginning of the game is very casual with a little bit of a chase at the start of the game. However, by around the 2 minute mark, you will find yourself surrounded by multiple patrol boats coming from all directions.

Ways to Stay Free

Use islands as shields. Losing sight of the Coast Guard with obstacles will help confuse them and provide you with the time you need to figure out your next move.

Do not become cornered. Be aware of your escape routes at all times. Being cornered means your run is over.

Save your mines for emergencies. A perfectly deployed mine will be able to save your run when you have no other options available to you.

Gather power-ups aggressively. Anchors and mines will be worth more than stars. Prioritize gathering these when the chase is hot.

Know the layout of the bay. Understanding where the narrow areas and open areas are will allow you to plan your route with the advantage of your faster and smaller boat.

Who Should Play Boat Rush

This game is great for fans of chase sequences and arcade-style gameplay who are looking for something that is fast-paced and fun. Fans of games such as GTA's boat chases or endless runners with a twist will love Boat Rush for its high-adrenaline experience.

This is a good choice for short sessions. Each run typically lasts a few minutes, so it makes for a good choice for mobile gamers who want to fit in a break. Desktop gamers will also appreciate the precision controls and the competitive aspect of trying to beat their own high scores.
