Flappy Submarine

You are the Captain of a small, flappy submarine, navigating the extreme conditions of the ocean. You have to survive by being able to time the movements of your submarine as accurately as possible. This is a pure survival test which will push your ability to react fast, but also master a single action that could save your life.

Endless invasion

What Makes Flappy Submarine So Addictive? Flappy Submarine takes the classic one-button challenge and puts it in hostile water. In this endless ocean trench your little submarine bounces through tight passages and around underwater landmines and torpedos that require you to time your moves perfectly to avoid hitting anything. When you hit something you are dead. No lives, no second chances. Just death, followed by the immediate start again.

There is great genius in the simplicity of the game. You know what you need to do in less than five seconds, however, the difference between knowing how to play, and successfully playing for over thirty seconds is quite large. That gap between knowledge, and being able to apply that knowledge is exactly why you will find yourself sucked back in for "just one more try".

The ocean setting gives you a sense of danger that many other Flappy-style games do not give you. There is nothing like the feeling of being in the darkness of the ocean, surrounded by potential danger. Landmines lurk in every direction. Torpedos scream across the screen at you, seemingly out of nowhere. Every second you spend underwater feels like a battle for survival, so each second that you survive feels well-earned.

The Difficulty of One-Touch Control

The difficulty and beauty of Flappy Submarine lies in its one-touch control system. All that is required to move the submarine upward is to tap the spacebar or the mouse button. As the submarine ascends due to gravity, all you need to do is release the button to allow the submarine to descend downward. Sounds easy? It is not. Maintaining a consistent altitude, while simultaneously navigating through the treacherous waters below, requires absolute concentration, and a precise touch of timing.

Desktop: Press Spacebar or Click the Mouse Button to Ascend; Release to Descend

Mobile: Tap Anywhere on the Screen to Ascend; Stop Tapping to Descend

Your mission is to steer the submarine through the underwater maze and see how far you can go before you fail, and get the highest score possible. With the infinite, and seamless design of the game, there is no end to the challenges. Each time you succeed in passing a hazard, the next one becomes increasingly difficult.

The Physics of the Game Feel Perfect

Tap the spacebar or mouse button too many times, and your submarine will jump erratically up toward the surface of the ocean. Tap it too few times, and your submarine will plummet to the bottom of the ocean. Finding that perfect rhythm to glide smoothly through narrow openings is when the game clicks, and you become completely immersed in the experience. Navigating the Treacherous Waters Below

The ocean is not a friendly place. The environment is unforgiving, and consistently hurls a variety of hazardous naval obstacles in front of your submarine.

Stationary Explosives (Mines): Some mines will hover in predictable patterns. Other mines will be positioned in such a way as to disrupt the rhythm you may develop as you progress through the levels. Once you feel confident about the altitude needed to safely pass through a section, the next mine will force you to adjust your altitude once again.

Moving Projectiles (Torpedos): These fast moving projectiles will force you to rapidly alter the altitude of your submarine in order to avoid disaster. Since torpedos do not remain stationary, they will be streaking horizontally across the screen and if you are at the wrong altitude when a torpedo is approaching, it will be the end of your run.

Torpedos add to the unpredictability of the game, and will prevent you from falling into a pattern of thinking. You cannot simply learn the patterns of the obstacles, because torpedos will continue to change the safe zones.

The Ocean Floor: The close-fitting walls of the deep-sea trench act as permanent barriers to movement. Each side of your submarine will cause it to immediately collapse if contacted; providing an unending obstacle to test your accuracy of taps.

One mistake means instant loss, thus extreme stress and anxiety with each tap. There is no damage system, so you cannot recover from one accident. One mistake, instant death and loss of all collected points, resulting in an extreme sense of accomplishment when you successfully avoid an object.

Survival Coins for High Score

In addition to avoiding collisions, you will need to gather coins. Collectible coins are used to increase your high scores. The decision to take a chance and move closer to a coin or play it safe and avoid a potential collision is always a strategic choice.

Coin placement often occurs in areas that are extremely hazardous to obtain. Coin placement may be right next to mine fields, in very tight areas, or at such a height that the player must take an extreme risk to acquire it. The decision to attempt to collect a coin places you at greater risk of colliding with something else, however, if you do not collect the coin, your score will be lessened.

Players who become skilled at determining whether or not to take a risk for a coin typically follow these guidelines: If a coin is located in an area with plenty of room to maneuver, grab it every opportunity you get. However, if coins are located in a tight cluster of other hazards (mines), only attempt to collect them if you feel confident in your ability to maneuver through the space safely.

Deep-Sea Strategies

Develop a pattern to your tapping. The physics of your submarine are consistent, so develop a pattern to maintain your altitude, and stick to it until you are forced to alter your path due to obstacles.

Do not focus on your submarine, focus on your path. Beginner players usually stare at their submarine while playing. Advanced players look ahead and spot obstacles early, then plan their altitude changes in anticipation of approaching obstacles.

Stay calm, and make calculated movements. When you see an obstacle coming toward you, the natural reaction is to mashing the button repeatedly. However, by doing so, you will most likely collide with the ceiling of your submarine.

Determine safe heights. There are certain areas within the ocean that have fewer obstacles. Once you determine these areas, you should return to them as frequently as possible to minimize the number of times you encounter hazards.

Be prepared to fail many times. Every time you lose a submarine, you learn something about the amount of tap momentum you will require to pass a particular gap. While frustration is a big part of the learning process, it is an essential step in becoming proficient at Flappy Submarine.

Who Should Play Flappy Submarine

This game is perfect for anyone who enjoys one-button challenges and extremely difficult arcade games. If you enjoyed Flappy Bird or any other incredibly difficult skill-based games, Flappy Submarine provides the same addictive punishment.

This game is perfect for mobile gaming because it uses one-tap controls that allow you to play using one hand, making it great for commuting or taking short breaks. Players using desktop computers will also find the game to be as challenging and rewarding.

If you enjoy games in which failure teaches you lessons and success is measured in terms of seconds instead of levels, then Flappy Submarine is the game for you.

Are you ready to dive?

Flappy Submarine does not coddle its players. It will drop you off in hostile waters and expect you to survive. Your first few attempts will probably result in embarrassing losses. That is normal. The game was created to punish new players and reward experienced ones for their perseverance.
