Once your astronaut is launched into the void, he/she continues to move forward; whether you are prepared or not. Like in real life there is no pause button in the void. As you continue to play, you will find yourself making split-second decisions while constantly keeping an eye on the road ahead. Since you are only able to control the vertical aspect of your astronaut’s movements (using your jetpack) you will need to climb higher or fall lower around obstacles that come at you with no warning whatsoever. As you continue to fly the farther you are from the starting point the faster everything moves.

Survival is Victory

Each second you survive is a victory, each time you narrowly miss a meteorite sends your heart racing and after you finally crash, you instantly want to try again because you believe you can beat your previous record.

Resource Management Will Define Your Journey

Surviving Space Trip is not all about avoiding objects; it is also about managing three important resources while attempting to stay alive in the chaotic void.

Fuel Canisters Are the Key to Staying Afloat

You use your jetpack to propel yourself through the void and your jetpack needs fuel to function and the fuel is constantly draining down. If you run out of fuel, your jetpack stops working and you will fall until you eventually crash into something. Throughout the dimension, fuel canisters will appear that glow brightly so you can spot them from a distance. For each fuel canister you pick up you extend the length of time you can continue flying through the void before you eventually crash.

This element of the game creates tension; do you take a chance to attempt a perilous maneuver to obtain a fuel canister or do you play it safe and wait for the next fuel canister to appear? In many cases you may see fuel canisters floating in the most inconvenient locations with debris surrounding them daring you to make the attempt.

Health Packs Are the Answer to Extending Your Time in the Void

Crashes occur. At some point during your journey, you will clip a satellite wing, scrape past a meteorite or miscalculate the width of a planet. Each collision will chip away at your health bar. If your health bar is depleted it doesn’t matter if you still have a full tank of fuel; your journey is over.

Health packs provide the protection you need to extend your time in the void. Health packs are far less common than fuel, therefore collecting each one provides a feeling of accomplishment. When you are faced with difficult choices, you must weigh the risks and rewards of your actions; you may choose to take a minor hit to create enough room to allow you to collect the next health pack.

Coins Provide Points and Are Everywhere

Coins litter the dimension like cosmic breadcrumbs and although they don’t aid in extending your time in the void, they greatly increase your score. Some of the best locations for coins are evil – you will see multiple coins clustered together in a narrow passage between obstacles, enticing you to try to navigate the tight spot to receive a large score bonus. Space Trip maintains the simplest of controls so you can focus on staying alive.

Desktop Controls:

* Fire the jetpack to ascend with the W key or the Up arrow key.

* Let go of the jetpack to fall due to gravity.

Mobile Controls:

* Touch anywhere on the screen to turn on the jetpack.

* Release the screen to fall.

The mobile controls are smooth and easy to use.

Objectives:

* Stay alive for as long as possible without crashing.

* Gather fuel to prevent your jetpack from depleting.

* Pick up health packs when you are damaged.

* Accumulate coins to achieve the highest score.

In the beginning of the game, there are minimal obstacles and you can become accustomed to the physics of your jetpack. Once you reach a few thousand meters into your journey, the level of difficulty significantly escalates. Obstacles begin to show up in groups. The speed at which you are moving increases. The distances between obstacles decrease and require greater precision to pass through safely.

Understanding Strategies for Deep Space Survival

For beginners, the game ends after the first minute; however, as players become experienced, they begin developing survival strategies that allow them to extend the duration of their survival to double-digit minutes.

Learning Jetpack Rhythm and Momentum

Your astronaut weighs-inertia and responds accordingly when you tap the jetpack for rapid correctional movements or hold it to ascend quickly. The key to understanding your astronaut's movement is to understand the specific pattern of taps that will provide you sufficient elevation to prevent falling while avoiding over-corrective movements at the same time. The tendency of beginners to utilize the jetpack for wild oscillations between the top and bottom of the screen will result in your demise.

To achieve smooth, controlled movements that will help you stay alive, you need to practice the art of feathering the controls by utilizing small, precise inputs for micro-adjustments which will keep you within the boundaries of safety and out of the way of obstacles.

Always Prioritize Fuel Above All Else

You can survive with low health for a very long period of time, provided you utilize cautionary methods; however, you cannot survive without fuel. As soon as you locate a fuel canister, you must obtain it. Even if obtaining the fuel requires you to abandon a coin cluster or take a small health hit to obtain the fuel, it will be worth it. If you do not have fuel, the game will end instantly.

Continuously monitor your fuel gauge for your entire journey. When your fuel gauge begins to flash red, panic mode should initiate. Aggressively scan for the next canister and dedicate all of your efforts towards acquiring it.

Learn Obstacle Formation Patterns

Although obstacles are not entirely random, you will begin to recognize patterns as you complete multiple runs. Planets on top of other planets usually indicate satellites located underneath. Asteroid clusters that are dense usually have a distinct center path that you can use to navigate through them. Recognizing patterns will enable you to anticipate what obstacles are approaching and you can position yourself accordingly to react to those obstacles in advance.

The Game Also Has a Pattern of Rhythm

In addition to having patterns of formation, obstacles also come in waves, followed by relatively quiet periods between the waves. Utilize these quiet periods to acquire resources and re-position yourself for the next wave of obstacles.

There is a sense of satisfaction in progressing from running for 20 seconds in your first run, to breaking the one-minute mark in your 10th run, to running for several minutes in your later attempts and navigating through chaos that would have destroyed your astronaut in your early attempts.
